Here is his most recent letter...
Dear Fr Greg,
greetings from ... Swaziland! I still divide my time between South Africa and Swaziland. We hope Pope Francis will remember us and provide the diocese of Manzini with a new Bishop.
I imagine how busy you were during the Holy Week. You are busy all year round... Hope you had time to rest after Easter.
Like every year, even this year I was never at the Cathedral for the Holy Week. I normally help in places where there is no priest. The priest-in-charge enjoys sending me wherever he needs me to go. It also gives me a chance to visit the communities. Normally they do not know I will be there and it gives them great joy to see that the Bishop remembered them for the Holy Week.
The "unusual" thing was to have two Chrism Masses. On Tuesday, like every year, we celebrated the Chrism Mass in the Vicariate of Ingwavuma. On Wednesday, like they used to do every year, we did it in Manzini (Swaziland). Fortunately it is only four hours' drive, door to door and I could be there the evening before. The picture I attached was taken in Manzini.
While in Manzini it was done in the Cathedral, in Ingwavuma we rotate the celebration every year. The distances made many people not being able to attend the Chrism Mass so two years' ago I decided to do it in different places. People have been grateful as "we never knew where the oils were coming from".
Today I am on my to Mozambique. It is not far from here. I am
representing Swaziland at a meeting of Bishops of Southern Africa. Tomorrow morning we should be meeting the president of Mozambique and talk about the difficult situation in Zimbabwe.
Once again, thank you for your prayer. I know you always remember me and us all. Pray that I may be a good shepherd to the people of these two countries. Count on my daily prayer too.
