Welcome!

Dear Friends of St. Andrew's,

From the founding of our Parish in 1958, we have grown and developed with Sierra Vista - as partners in building up this great community we call home.

Over the decades, we sought to be active participants in every aspect of community life. We believe that serving the common good and making this city a place where people come first, where the least and most easily-overlooked are served and cared for, and where the quality of life is enhanced for all our fellow citizens, is an essential witness to our faith.

We hope our parish church is a place where all experience the Presence of God and the welcome of God's People. We pray that its beauty will speak a wordless invitation to those who are seeking, those who are wearied by life's burdens and those who are drawn to lift their hearts in prayer.

We thank God for giving us this opportunity to extend His blessings and to share our church and campus facilities with the Sierra Vista community.
The pulse of St. Andrew's is reflected through our ministries and individual parishoner efforts.  I hope to highlight these achievements and bring focus to upcoming events in the article following this message.

Yours because His,

Fr. Greg Adolf

Bienvenido

Did You Know...?

...that our Vacation Bible School was the best ever – so far?! Over 150 children, from our Parish, Our Lady of the Mountains, and the neighborhood, enjoyed a week of fun learning, singing, crafts, and Bible stories! Sister Joellen, our wonderful Director of Religious Education, reported that in addition to the very large number of kids participating, there were 22 Adult Volunteers, our Seminarian Joseph Schaaf, and over 40 Youth Volunteers assisting with this year’s Vacation Bible School! Thank you to ALL who made it such a fun success, and who made sure that everyone stayed well-hydrated in this year’s record heat! (Our Parish Nurse, Connie Sayers, was on hand to help with VBS and keep everyone healthy!! And, of course, all our Adult Volunteers had their Diocesan Safe-Environment clearances – thanks, Lupita Teran!!)

Our Seminarian-for-the-Summer, Deacon John Gonzales, will be assisting at the weekday Masses at 9:00, and preaching at the Masses on Fridays, as well as other Masses. Since he is only assigned to us for 10 weeks and, as he is newly Ordained, we want to make sure that he has as rich an experience of the Diaconate as possible! We are grateful to our Deacons Lauro, Joe, and John, for all their encouragement and mentoring of their new fellow Deacon! Please continue to affirm and encourage Deacon John – he gets no “grades” for his Summer Assignment, except your encouragement and thanks for his “YES!” to God!

Next Saturday, we will be co-hosting a wonderful two-part event here in the Carmichael Neighborhood where our Parish Church is located! There will be a “Star-Spangled-Spectacular” kick-off for the 4th of July festivities, with a “family fun event” in Len Roberts Park, next Saturday afternoon (1 July) from 3:00-6:00PM!  We are in need of VOLUNTEERS to help with the children’s games and contests, and there is a call-out to the Knights of Columbus, to assist with the hot dogs, etc. and provide ‘security-by-presence’!

Next Saturday evening, the second part of the “Star-Spangled-Spectacular” will take place in our Kino Hall, with a wonderful Magic Show, a fund-raiser for Good Neighbor Alliance – our Community’s only homeless shelter! The Magic Show, at 7:00 PM, will be preceded by a wonderful music show and patriotic song sing-along, by our own “Outriders” -- Western performers – Steve Conroy, Bill Cassidy, Glen Lazore, Tina and Jim Riehle -- beginning at 6:00PM!

Tickets for the evening’s entertainment are on sale in the Parish Office - $15!

Please plan on attending the “Star-Spangled-Spectacular” and kick-off the 4th of July Holiday in great style!

*******

This past week, we received $1450.80 in new donations to the “Building Our Church Fund”! Your generosity is making great things happen on our two-campus Parish and in the Church throughout the world! God is multiplying the blessings of your generosity!!

“The reason people find it hard to be happy is that they always see the past as better than it was, the present as worse than it is, and the future as less resolved than it will be.”
